Tessa Lange, LCSW

Teletherapist

Tessa received her Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work at George Mason University. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Virginia.

Tessa has over 8 years of experience working as a mental health professional, primarily as a hospital based psychiatric liaison and a mental health therapist, with additional prior experience facilitating groups for a partial hospitalization program as well as case management duties on an inpatient behavioral health unit and at an assisted living facility. The overwhelming majority of her experience has been working with adult individuals (including those on the Autism Spectrum and with ADHD) experiencing mood dysregulation, depression, anxiety, self-harm behaviors, suicidality, and substance use/dependency.

As a mental health therapist, Tessa utilizes evidenced based practices Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (including elements of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy) and Solution-Focused Therapy through a Resiliency based conceptual framework. Her perspective on mental health aligns with the concept of Mental Wellness, which asserts mental health is more than the absence of symptoms. Beyond the alleviation of psychiatric symptoms lies emotional, psychological, and social well-being. Tessa uses a collaborative approach, because she knows you are the expert of your own life, and she strives to work with you as your guide to navigate you through personal growth towards positive, sustainable change.

As a person outside of work, Tessa does her best to practice what she teaches, spends most of her time adventuring with family, and enjoys a variety of sci-fi and fantasy fandoms.
