Substance Use Support

Substance use support and counseling in Virginia

Substance use concerns don’t occur in a vacuum.

Often, there are underlying stressors, triggers, or co-occurring mental health concerns involved.

At MySpectrum Counseling & Coaching, we offer support for substance use concerns, recovery maintenance, and related emotional stressors. We work with you to build coping strategies and, where it helps, to educate your loved ones on patterns of use and recovery. This is outpatient counseling — we are not an inpatient, detox, or residential addiction-treatment program.

Wherever you live in the state — from near our home office in North Chesterfield all the way up to Northern Virginia — our counselors can help you work through substance use concerns and the stressors around them. If you can’t attend in-person sessions, we also offer online counseling that connects you with a therapist from the comfort of home.

Possible Signs of a Substance Use Concern

Some signs suggest that talking with a counselor could help. Consider whether any of these apply to you or a loved one:

  • Frequent cravings for the substance

  • Needing to take larger amounts for the desired result

  • Feelings of withdrawal after going without it for a while

  • Favoring substance use over time with family or friends

  • Difficulty maintaining your responsibilities

How We Work With You

We build individualized plans, whether you meet with us in person or online, tailoring the counseling and coaching methods to what suits you. Whatever we provide, we strive to do it in a manner that is positive, energizing, and engaging. If you need a level of care beyond outpatient counseling, we will help you find the right referral.

We offer a safe space to talk about usage, without fear of judgment.

  • I really appreciate MySpectrum because they took my child on as a patient when I couldn't get any other practice to return my call. They returned my call promptly and did all they could to help us. We did Teletherapy and it worked very well. My child preferred Teletherapy over in person.
