Fawn Workman, FNP, PMHNP

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

(**PLEASE NOTE: Fawn only accepts internal referrals from Therapists at MySpectrum. She does not accept referrals directly from clients. If you wish to see Fawn, you must become a client of MySpectrum with a Therapist first. The Therapist will then work with you to determine if seeing Fawn is therapeutically best.)

Fawn completed her original registered nurse ADN degree from the College of the Albemarle in Elizabeth City, NC (1999). She went on to complete her BSN at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA, with a minor in psychology (2011). She completed her master’s degree (MSN) at Frontier Nursing University in Kentucky with a concentration as a Family Nurse Practitioner (2014) and also chose Frontier when she returned for a post-graduate specialty program as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (2018). She is licensed in Virginia and board-certified as both a FNP and PMHNP.

Fawn comes to MySpectrum with over 20 years of experience working as a nurse, much of it working in general medical units but also including time working in inpatient psychiatric settings (child/adolescent, adult, and geriatric). As a PMHNP since 2018, she has obtained clinical experience helping individuals manage depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, interpersonal relationships, OCD, ADHD, and schizophrenia.

Fawn believes that medication management is a tool to aid in the well-being of an individual experiencing psychiatric or mental health difficulty. She has additional training in some integrative measures, natural supplementation, and lifestyle therapies. Fawn spends time in each session that incorporates psychotherapy, recognizing its importance to support the individual and exploring symptoms and coping strategies. She aims to listen and understand, and not just write a prescription. Her approach is collaborative, supportive, and caring, and an eclectic mix of therapeutic modalities (but primarily supportive therapy and motivational interviewing).

When not working, Fawn enjoys spending time with her daughter and grandson, and her hobbies include singing, painting, and gardening. Her dog and cat are characters that keep life interesting.

Fawn works with established clients of MySpectrum through a referral from their Therapist. If you would like to work with a Therapist at MySpectrum, call us today to schedule an appointment: 804-924-2236, option 1, or click here.
