Dr. Heckstall earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice from Old Dominion University, a Master of Arts degree in Urban Education with a focus on School Counseling from Norfolk State University, an ED.S. in Counseling from Hampton University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Advanced Studies in Human Behavior from Capella University. She is a Resident in Counseling in the state of Virginia, practicing under the supervision of Keith Huffman, LPC, at MySpectrum.

Dr. Heckstall has over 17 years of experience providing services to youth and adults in the community, public school setting, and criminal justice system. She is dedicated to cultivating a secure and accepting environment, and driven to assist clients in cultivating tenacity, deepening self-awareness, and reaching their personal and emotional objectives.

As a Resident in Counseling, Dr. Heckstall centers her focus on empowering individuals to embark on journeys of self-discovery, growth, and healing. By employing evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), humanistic therapy, and psychoanalytic therapy, she collaboratively assists clients in addressing challenges, gaining insights, and developing effective coping strategies.

When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, traveling, and volunteering with her sorority.
