Crystal received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from University of Virginia and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Virginia.
Crystal has over 16 years of experience working within the child welfare system and more than 9 years of experience as a mental health clinician. Throughout her career, she has worked extensively with youth and families impacted by the child welfare and juvenile justice systems.
She has received specialized training in EMDR, Functional Family Therapy (FFT), and Multisystemic Therapy (MST). Crystal believes that difficult experiences can sometimes become “stuck” and unprocessed in the brain. She often compares this process to the scene in Finding Nemo where a pebble gets stuck in the motor and clouds the tank. Crystal uses EMDR as one therapeutic approach to help clients process experiences, remove those emotional “blocks,” and create greater clarity and healing.
Crystal’s therapeutic style is supportive, compassionate, and focused on helping clients better understand and process their experiences in a safe environment.
Outside of work, Crystal enjoys walking, visiting the science museum, and shopping for shoes.
