Amy received a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature with a minor in Gender Studies from James Madison University and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Virginia.
Amy has extensive clinical experience in community mental health in the Richmond area. Her areas of specialty include substance use treatment, working with those involved in the criminal justice system, and providing individual therapy to adults. Amy has worked with clients with a broad range of clinical needs, including anxiety and depression, addiction, and managing the stress of various life transitions.
Amy brings a warm, down-to-earth, and personable approach to therapy sessions. She believes in the importance of establishing a trusting and collaborative relationship with clients to help them meet their therapeutic goals. She strives to create a nonjudgemental and encouraging environment for all clients.
Amy uses a holistic, person centered, and strengths-based approach to counseling. She believes in meeting clients where they are, and empowering them to achieve their goals. Amy uses a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, which include cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, object relations theory, and solution focused treatment.
In her free time, Amy enjoys hiking, baking, gardening, and yoga.
