Karen graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Master of Social Work and a Gender Violence Intervention Certificate from the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs. Karen is a Licensed Master Social Worker and Supervisee in Social Work, receiving supervision from Eryn Paxton, LCSW, towards clinical licensure. See Eryn’s bio here:

Karen has experience working with individuals aged 15 and above in non-profit agencies, community mental health centers, and private practice. She is passionate about helping individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities gain access to mental healthcare.

Karen’s goal is to help clients overcome depression, anxiety, domestic violence, grief, intergenerational trauma, cultural stigma, as well as life and career transitions.

Karen believes in providing a safe, non-judgmental space so clients can share their innermost wishes and thoughts. Karen tailors interventions to each client’s unique needs using techniques from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Narrative Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing with an empathetic and culturally-sensitive lens. Karen speaks Mandarin and Cantonese in addition to English.

Having worked in various industries and roles, from marketing to customer service, Karen’s diverse experience enables her to understand her clients’ challenges at work.

During her free time, Karen enjoys spending time with her rescue dog, dining out, cooking, listening to music, and grocery shopping.
