Richard earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Radford University and his Master’s in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. Richard is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Virginia.
Richard has clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. He has over 14 years of experience in capacities such as Therapeutic Day Treatment, Emergency Services, Intensive in-home, and Outpatient Therapy that includes both Telehealth as well as in office treatment.
Richard has provided support to those experiencing complex trauma, anxiety, PTSD, depression, and life transitions. Richard also has experience working with Autism in both adults as well as children. He was inspired to enter the mental health field by his mother, who stood as Director of Social Services for over 20 years in a county in Virginia.
Richard utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness therapy, to help facilitate growth in his sessions. He strives to meet clients where they are in order to provide both a comfortable and empathetic setting. He believes in working hand in hand with the client to help discover the best path moving forward towards their appreciation of self.
In his free time, Richard enjoys volunteering with his local SPCA. Richard has been involved in animal rescue for over 20 years and is often able to relate to his clients through a common love for animals.
