COVID-19 and Onward…
MySpectrum has always operated with the goal of increasing access to therapy. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, we offered Teletherapy. Throughout the pandemic, this service has become more widely known. While many practices have offered Teletherapy because of the pandemic, MySpectrum continues to offer Teletherapy because of its benefits. This includes convenience, comfort, confidentiality, and ease. As a result, we continue to increase our Teletherapy service and have dedicated Licensed Teletherapists who live throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. This team is ready to offer support, guidance, and help during the challenging times of your life no matter where you live in Virginia.
The need for mental health services is at an all-time high and we are here to meet that need, while making efforts to reduce the stigma attached to getting help. While we do have limited office sessions, we encourage the use of Teletherapy because of the ease it offers. We accept most major insurance plans for our Teletherapy services, including Medicaid, Medicare, EAPs, and commercial plans. In fact, we work with nearly 20 different insurance types! Since each of our Therapists is individually credentialed with insurance, availability of a Therapist may vary. Please take a few moments to browse through the bios of our team, and in some instances, videos made by the Therapists so that you can get to know them even better.

Angelyn Debord, LPC, NCC, RPT, PCIT
Teletherapist
Angelyn has a BA in Studio Art from Appalachian State University and a Masters of Education from Lindsey Wilson School of Professional Counseling. Angelyn is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a National Certified Counselor, a Registered Play Therapist, and a certified Parent Child Interactive Therapist. Working with people of all ages, Angelyn seeks to meet clients with acceptance, warmth, and understanding.
Based on a belief that healing comes from within, Angelyn engages clients in the process of exploration of their own best selves by uncovering personal strengths and inviting these strengths to be acknowledged and ‘brought to light.’ Through reflection, mirroring and magnification of their interests and challenges, Angelyn supports clients in their ability to emotionally self-regulate. By reminding clients to treat themselves with the same respect they issue toward others, clients become aware of their own self-derogatory statements and replace these with supportive statements to increase their sense of well-being and self-esteem.
Native to the Smoky Mountains of western North Carolina, Angelyn’s background in the visual and performing arts support her use of art, self-expression, journaling, story-sharing and imagery in her therapy sessions. She is open to engaging clients, both young and old, in the creation of images and symbols for feelings that words can’t express. Angelyn has discovered that telehealth is an excellent modality for expressive therapeutic interventions for children, teens, and adults.
When working with children, Angelyn carefully follows a child’s process of play, providing attendance and reflection, knowing that this is a child’s ultimate form of communication. Angelyn works closely with the parents in increasing their positive engagement with the child. With warmth and acceptance, Angelyn meets clients where they are, with the confidence that, regardless of age or gender, change comes from steady support and self-care.
Angelyn spends her free time painting, leading story sharing workshops, performing Appalachian folktales at festivals, writing, swimming, tending her koi fish and gardening, alongside her husband, on their mountain farm.

Erin McMenamin, LCSW
Teletherapist
Erin received her Bachelors degree in English from Dickinson College and her Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Virginia.
Erin is a trained play therapist and enjoys working with teens, young adults, and young professionals on the cusp of discovering who they are and who they’d like to be. Erin also enjoys working with military-connected families, members of the LGBTQ population, as well as individuals working on addiction, women’s issues, and parenting.
Erin specializes in helping clients use evidence-based practices to decrease symptoms of depression and anxiety. In therapy, clients will explore their value system, recognize their strengths, and feel supported to explore what is keeping them stuck. Erin believes therapy allows people to develop emotional resilience and contributes to overall health and well-being. Equally as important, though, Erin believes therapy is a way for the client to get what they want out of life. For some, this means a reduction in symptoms. For others, it means finding empowerment. And still for others, it means changing their lives.

Anthony is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 20+ years of experience providing mental health therapy to adolescents, teens, families, and couples in a variety of practice settings that include hospitals, residential campuses, homes, communities, and schools. Anthony’s areas of focus encompass a broad scope of mental health conditions that include ADD / ADHD, anxiety, behavioral issues, depression, mood dysregulation, and trauma and abuse. As a first step in working together, Anthony seeks to identify the client’s immediate concern so that they can better manage their current circumstances. Next, Anthony works with clients to help them obtain the knowledge, skills, techniques, and strategies that they need to begin to address any future concerns as they may arise. Ann Sexton Tiernan, LPC
Teletherapist
Ann received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications from Virginia Tech and a Master of Education degree with a specialization in Agency Counseling, as well as an Educational Specialist Certification in Professional Counseling, from The College of William & Mary. Ann is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia.
Ann is a Virginia native who was raised on a tidal creek in the Olde Wythe area of Hampton. Living in a city rich with America’s history she frequently pedaled her bike to the Hampton Roads River where she could view Ft. Monroe, Norfolk Naval Base, and the site of the historic Civil War battle of the ironclads Monitor and Merrimac. Ann’s kind and friendly personality led her to become friends with the children of military families, many of whom had traveled the world due to their father’s deployments. As a teenager she realized that while some friends’ dads had been killed in war, others were missing in action and she sought to bring a bit of joy and harmony to those who grieved. These experiences would lead Ann to her ultimate career path in the counseling field.
Ann began her professional career as a feature writer at The Daily Press, and then continued her studies to become a Counselor and Therapist. She has diverse professional experience working as a crisis counselor in the emergency department of a local hospital and owning a small private counseling practice where she sought to empower women and youth experiencing a continuum of self-esteem issues leading to anxiety and depression, as well as educational, professional, and relationship issues. Ann has also volunteered with the American Red Cross in Disaster Mental Health and has facilitated Resiliency workshops with the Service to the Armed Forces. She received the regional Cornerstone Award for her work. Ann provides Teletherapy at MySpectrum and is prepared to work with you, no matter where you live in Virginia.
When not working, Ann loves volunteering for the Red Cross, taking long walks, and photographing nature (wildlife, trees, flowers, streams, and the sky). Ann says, “the world fascinates me!”

She seeks to help her clients thrive by helping them create lives that work for them, and helping them to become their best neurodivergent selves, and embrace who they are.
Anne helps her clients with skill-building, improving executive functions such as planning and organization, and emotional intelligence skills such as self-awareness and emotional regulation. She also helps clients manage their sensory needs and reduce sensory overload, which is common among neurodiverse individuals. Other helpful skills Anne works with clients include independent living skills such as self-care; budgeting; time-management; task completion; resume creation; interviewing for, getting, and keeping a job; maintaining relationships; enhancing communication skills; creating and maintaining daily routines; and self-advocacy.
Anne’s goal with every coaching session is to help her clients feel truly heard, seen, and understood. One of her personal mottos is “Celebrate Differences”, and this something she practices every day in her life, and her coaching practice. She is a fierce advocate for neurodiverse individuals, a staunch ally to the LGBTQ+ community, and a tireless supporter of social and racial justice.
Anne understands the importance of good mental health, and works with her clients to help them improve theirs. As a Life Coach at MySpectrum, Anne is able to work hand-in-hand with our team of Therapists should you need the additional support of a licensed Therapist.
