Laniesha received a Bachelors degree in Social Work at Virginia State University and both a Masters and Doctoral degree in Social Work from Walden University. She also obtained a post-masters degree in school counseling from Regent University. Laniesha is endorsed as a licensed school social worker and school counselor in Virginia. Laniesha is also a Certified Trauma Specialist. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Virginia.

Throughout her career, Laniesha has gained experience working with children and adolescents providing intensive mental health services in the home and school settings. Laniesha utilizes evidenced based practices in therapy sessions focusing on developing an optimistic future, positive coping mechanisms, boosting self-esteem, self-confidence, depression, anxiety, and trauma. Laniesha offers a unique approach to assist in identifying the underlying patterns through the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapies (CBT).

As a Certified Trauma Specialist, Laniesha’s goal as a child therapist is to challenge maladaptive thoughts and unhelpful behaviors, replacing them with more realistic thinking patterns and more adaptive coping strategies. Laniesha also offers techniques and exercises that are appropriate for the child’s age, to understand themselves in the world.

In her free time, Laniesha enjoys spending time with family and friends, sightseeing, and shopping.
