Anthony Clark, LCSW
Teletherapist
Anthony earned a Bachelor of Social Work from North Carolina Central University and a Master of Social Work from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign campus. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Virginia.
Anthony is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 20+ years of experience providing mental health therapy to adolescents, teens, families, and couples in a variety of practice settings that include hospitals, residential campuses, homes, communities, and schools. Anthony’s areas of focus encompass a broad scope of mental health conditions that include ADD / ADHD, anxiety, behavioral issues, depression, mood dysregulation, and trauma and abuse. He takes a healing-centered approach to treatment that combines traditional methodologies such as cognitive- behavioral (CBT), dialectical behavioral (DBT), humanistic, rational-choice, psychodynamic, and rational-emotive with evidenced-based therapeutic interventions to help clients build on their strengths so that they may enjoy a more satisfying life.
Anthony’s work with clients involves an ongoing assessment of the whole client throughout, not only from the framework of their clinical symptom presentation, but also within the context of their life experiences, to include cultural influences, traditions, identity, spiritual beliefs, socio-economic status, and future aspiration. As a first step in working together, Anthony seeks to identify the client’s immediate concern so that they can better manage their current circumstances. Next, Anthony works with clients to help them obtain the knowledge, skills, techniques, and strategies that they need to begin to address any future concerns as they may arise. Anthony believes that there is “no one size fits all” and that every individual presents a unique situation and need, which is right in line with MySpectrum’s philosophy. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion while on their personal journey to improving their quality of life. Anthony provides this in the context of Teletherapy at MySpectrum.
When not working, Anthony enjoys spending time with family and friends, visiting historical monuments and museums, attending live entertainment, listening to favorite podcasts, and reading scientific journals. And, as the novice DIY, Anthony has a fondness for most home improvement projects.
