George received an Associate of Arts (AA) degree from Chowan University, a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from James Madison University and a Master of Clinical Social Work (MSW) degree with a concentration in Gerontology from Norfolk State University. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Virginia.

George’s clinical experience includes providing crisis intervention and supportive services in an Emergency Room setting at a Level 1 Trauma Hospital. He provided individual, group and family therapy in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric facilities for 12 years. George works extensively with clients experiencing anxiety, worry, stress, panic, depression and trauma. He embraces equity and inclusion and welcomes all individuals seeking mental wellness.

George also served in a law enforcement capacity with the Federal government for more than 20 years. This experience provides him with an understanding of issues often faced by first responders, law enforcement personnel and military families. He works with people experiencing depression, anger, anxiety, and PTSD. George is a Certified Trauma Treatment Specialist (CTTS).

After retiring from government service, George provided full-time care for a parent with Dementia for several years, leading to an interest in providing compassionate support for those experiencing stress, anxiety, and grief during chronic illness and end of life.

George’s therapeutic approach involves developing a treatment plan based in each client’s issues and goals. He uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Crisis Intervention, Trauma Incident Reduction techniques (Facilitator) and other treatment modalities based on each client’s needs.

George believes that the ingredients of therapy necessary to promote change and growth include a compassionate, non-judgemental attitude coupled with collaboration and participation, relaxation training, problem-solving, cognitive restructuring, exposure and coaching support.

In his free time, George enjoys daily workouts, playing golf and is an avid surfer. He enjoys watching movies and dining out with his wife.
