Denise received her Doctor of Philosophy in Human Services Counseling from Capella University and her Master of Education in School Counseling from Lynchburg University. She also received her Graduate Certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis from George Mason University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, Board Certified Behavior Analyst and Licensed Behavior Analyst. 

Denise has provided mental health and behavioral services to children, adolescents, and adults for over 20 years in multiple settings. This breadth of experience has brought her to MySpectrum. Understanding that all individuals are unique and exceptional, Denise is passionate about providing a customized approach during the therapeutic process. She uses a variety of techniques including play therapy, trauma informed care, person centered approaches, cognitive behavioral and solution focused modalities. She is passionate about helping individuals meet their full potential and working with individuals from all backgrounds, abilities, and identities. Denise is also passionate about working with children who have experienced trauma, (e.g. , physical/emotional/sexual, neglect, exposure to violence), presenting with issues relating to emotional issues (e.g. anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders), behavioral and attachment issues (relating to adoption, foster care, parental conflict/mental health issues). Denise has provided support and services for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families in the school, clinic, outpatient, and in-home settings.

When not working, Denise enjoys spending time with family, friends and her adorable cat, exploring new places and activities, live music and spending time at the beach whenever possible.
